Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna Celebrates 44 Years

Cosmopack and Cosmoprof events to run concurrently this year.

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna celebrates its 44th anniversary this year, kicking off with two major changes. For one, the show will be held about a month earlier than usual. Second, for those attendees focused on honing in on the latest packaging innovations, be aware that unlike previous years, in which entry to Cosmopack always preceded the general opening of the event by a day, this year, the two sectors—Cosmopack and Cosmoprof—will run concurrently, March 18-21 at the Bologna Fairgrounds. Cosmopack continues its customary presence in Halls 19 and 20.

According to show organizers, more than 2,300 exhibitors (an increase of 2% over 2010) are expected.
This year’s overall theme pays tribute to “the value of the future” and “a new desire for beauty.” Focus is on a new interpretation of beauty—not only external beauty, but also beauty of thought, of behavior, of a desire to stand out. It is described as “a wish for a change that transcends this time of recession and pre-announces the recovery,” according to the event’s organizers.

Aureliana De Sanctis, CEO of SoGeCos, producers of Cosmoprof/Cosmopack, says “The beauty generation states: beauty is intrinsic, cosmetics are its consistent expression.” And this, De Sanctis says, “is the interpretation that Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2011 aims at telling and spreading, to step out from the grey world of the economic recession, while projecting the world of beauty into a dimension rich in content and high-image codes. That is to say, in Bologna one will be able to breathe a burst of optimism, engaging and innovative, which will spread throughout the exhibition.”

Packaging Design Beauty Award

For the second year, a packaging design beauty award supported by Architectural Digest will recognize the conceptual quality of products presented at Cosmoprof.

The selection regards products that belong to five different categories to enhance their design, creativity, gestural ability and new communication policies. An international jury chaired by Ettore Mocchetti, Architectural Digest’s director, will choose the winners.
